Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival — Negombo

Transfer from Colombo Airport to Negombo (20 min) to rest after your flight. Later, explore the town's colonial churches, old Dutch canal and fishermen's quarters, ending with sunset over the lagoon.

Day 2

Negombo Fish Market — Sigiriya Rock

Early visit to Negombo's bustling fish market. Drive to Habarana (3h) and climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the late afternoon, in time for sunset from the summit.

Day 3

Pidurangala Sunrise & Sevanagama Village

Sunrise hike up Pidurangala Rock for sweeping views of Sigiriya. Later, visit the traditional village of Sevanagama by ox-cart, temple and lake boat ride, ending with a home-cooked meal with a local family.

Day 4

Polonnaruwa & Minneriya Safari

Morning exploring the medieval ruins of Polonnaruwa, including the rock-carved Gal Vihara Buddhas. Afternoon jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, home to around 400 wild elephants.

Day 5

Dambulla — Kandy

Visit the Golden Cave Temple of Dambulla en route to Kandy. Optional spice garden stop in Matale. Evening Kandyan dance performance.

Day 6

Kandy — Ella by Train

Drive via Ramboda Falls to Nuwara Eliya, then take the scenic train from Nanu Oya to Ella through the tea country.

Day 7

Ella's Tea Plantations

Choice of guided treks (Ella Rock, Bandarawela countryside or Haputale's tea fields), a visit to the Sir Lipton tea factory, and the iconic Nine Arch Bridge.

Day 8

Ella — Unawatuna

Drive to the south coast (3h), stopping at the Elephant Transit Home to watch orphaned elephants being bottle-fed, and Dondra Head Lighthouse near Matara.

Day 9

Free Day on the Coast

A day at leisure, or explore the Dutch-built Galle Fort with its ramparts and colonial streets. Optional Madu River mangrove boat safari.

Day 10

Relax in Unawatuna

Free time to enjoy the beach.

Day 11

Departure

Drive back to Colombo International Airport (2h) for your return flight.
